September Community Call with Steve Straus
Our next community call will be on September 9th with Steve Straus at 3:30 Pacific time. You might be interested to know that I personally use several different people as buddy coaches and one of the main ones who I coach with regularly is Steve Straus. Steve has been a coach since 1987 and has an extremely successful practice. I invited him to share with you how he structures his practice and the kinds of clients he attracts and how he does that. He graciously accepted my invitation. Here's a few words from Steve about what he's going to talk about during the upcoming community call -
"It was January of 1987 that I had my first coaching session
and my coaching practice has evolved tremendously since
then. That evolution is the result of three attributes about
coaching which I love:
1) I get to continually change and grow,
2) coaching assists that change and growth, and
3) I get to redefine who I work with and how I do it. If that sounds Self-ish, it is!"
"Since I now know that a limitless market exists for coaching, I feel my only real issue is to discover and define Who I really am right now and respond to whatever pulls me. That way I'm always serving my clients (a high Value of mine) in the best way possible. As I'm continually evolving, the new clients I attract look different from the ones I attracted a year, or 5, earlier. And, my average client relationship is 3-1/2 to 4 years, a much higher average than the norm for coaching. This also means that I tend to attract clients who are evolving at a pace similar to mine. We literally spiral up together.
What does this have to do with Tom and what I'm learning from him? His family of Pure Awareness techniques, the WaveMaker, and the Core Dynamics codification of important aspects of the Human condition, together have, and continue to, contribute to my coaching effectiveness.
My most exciting and rewarding coaching today comes from my intuition. By healing/resolving/cleaning up/letting go of my stuff through Tom's processes and support I've opened up to hear, trust, and act on my intuition. I tell prospective clients that the main thing I bring to our relationship is my intuition. It's a more effective resource than the sum of all the coaching models, processes, language, approaches, and systems I've learned over the past 21+ years, together!
If the Zen truth applies here about Do Less, Accomplish More, then, through coaching from intuition, I'm well on my way to "Do Nothing, Accomplish Everything!" It's a lot easier for me while being more effective for the client.
Speaking of my clients, they range from corporate executives, to creative entrepreneurs, to traditional professionals, to high net-worth individuals, to master coaches. I love having a wide mix of people, situations, and issues on which to coach. (At any point 20-25% of my practice is repeat clients.)
I'm even building and refining a group coaching model for the owners of small businesses and entrepreneurs to creatively lower the cost of coaching for them and to have a turn-key coaching package to license to other coaches. Evolving never ends.

ADD Double Blind Study Udate
Some of the preliminary results that we are seeing so far include one boy whose initial writing fluency test was in the bottom 1% on his first test before getting debugged. In the second test before the second debugging session two weeks later he wrote 11 sentences instead of just one duing the time alloted and they were much more legible then his one sentence on the first test. This put his writing fluency score at 52% which is right in the middle of normal.
I asked the director of the Banyan Tree Learning Center, Nanci Engle, if she every saw this kind of improvement in a period of two weeks and she said she's never seen that kind of improvement even in a year of continuous tutoring!
Another mom who had two boys in the study, one who got the real debugging and one who got the placebo debugging said that it was like night and day. She could easily tell which one got the debugging and which one got the placebo. The boy that got the debugging has had ADHD to such an extent that he is so difficult to get along with that he has never been able to play in a group or make any friends. She said that three adults had told her that her sone was not playing in groups and getting along fine. He also brought home another boy's phone number and asked his mom to call to set up a play date. This had never happened before in this boy's entier life!
Yet another mom reported a dramatic reduction in bed wetting by her son since the debugging. Apparently this is a fairly common symptom with ADHD kids. The boy is also now writing much more coherent sentences and even short stories which he was never able to do before.
We just did the last debugging and upgrading sessions this past Friday with the last group of students and then a final testing will be in September so we'll have the results of the study to begin analyzing the data during September. We don't know yet how long it will take to analyze the data but because it is a small pilot study it probably won't take long. When we have the results we'll let you know.
The video taping of the study to create a documentary about it is going very well and we'll also let you know when that's ready too. We'll be using some of the video footage during my appearance on the TV show - Chicagoing - with Bill Campbell on September 14th in the Chicago area. Read more about that below.
Denmark Coach Training report
I've just returned from giving a special Core Dynamics Coach Training to a group of experienced coaches in Denmark. It was a great trip and a wonderful experience. Fortunately English is taught as a second language so we didn't need translation and everyone seemed to really get the Core Dynamics insights and the Pure Awareness Techniques. One of the participants is however translating the Core Dynamics model into Danish. This has inspired me to create a web page with the Core Dynamics model in different languages. So far we have Spanish, German, Korean, and Danish model's some of which are already created and some in process. We'll announce when this special web page with these international resources is ready.
I'm very pleased to welcome my new coach freinds and colleagues into the Great Life Technologies community. They are bright and enthusiastic and you will enjoy getting to know them. Several of the participants will be joining the 4 1/2 month webinar portion of the upcoming Core Dynamics Coach Training that begins in September. Several are also planning on coming over in March for the next CDCT live event.
One of the coaches purchased a WaveMaker and several others also expressed interest. We also debugged about half of the group for the TB miasm and we had a fascinating demonstration coaching session with a German woman via a translator. I'm getting used to caoching through a translator and its an interesting expeirence to guide someone through subtle inner experiences that way.The entire trip and experience were really wonderful.
Ancestor Quest!
I just thought I'd share a fun thing that I did while I was in Denmark.
Before leaving for Denmark I hired a genealogist to do some research about my family history. I had been told that I have some Danish ancestors and that one of them might have been from the royal family. Well, the royal family part doesn't seem to be accurate but I did find out where my Great, Great, Great Grandfather, Neil Neilsen lived in a little town called Maribo in the southern part of Denmark. My Great, Great Grandmother, Olivia Neilsen immigrated from Denmark to the USA in the 1850's. I was able to find the houses where these ancestors lived and I got pictures of them. Here's a couple of them:
 
It was fun to walk where my ancestors had walked and lived.
Tom to be on TV in Chicago on September 14th!
I'll be in Chicago for the taping of the TV show - Chicagoing with Bill Campbell on September 11th. The station is WLS-TV, ABC7 Chicago and the show will air on Sunday, September 14th. The show will also be availabe via iTunes as a podcast. We'll send a link for that when it's available. I'll be interviewed by Bill who is a life coach. He attened my recent workshop in Chicago and invited me to be on his show. He's been doing this show for 19 years and it apparently reaches about half a million people in the Chicago area. We'll be discussing Human Software Engineering, the ADD debugging pilot study and my books, Pure Awareness and Vaporize Your Anxiety without Drugs or Therapy. It should be fun and I'm excited to be getting this exposure for HSE.

New Extraordinary Relationships Program with Michelle Humphrey
Michelle Humphrey has just finished co-authoring a new Pure Awareness Techniques version of the Extraordinary Relationships Program that now includes a 16 week teleclass series. She's presenting about the program to a large group of several hundred people on Saturday, August 23rd at the San Diego Convention Center.

Tom presents in Korea
Tom will be presenting at two conferences in Korea. These presentations will include Core Dynamics Coaching and Coach Training, the teaching of all 8 Pure Awareness Techniques and information about the Rapid Productivity Upgrade Program and the ADD Study.
In the morning of the 27th Tom will be the keynote speaker at the 2008 International New Science Symposium in Korea. In the afternoon and evening there will be a special Core Dynamics Coach Training program sponsored by the Asian Coaching Company and Dr. Paul Jeong. Then on Sunday the 28th Tom will give a one day workshop for the International New Science Symposium on the 8 Pure Awareness Techniques.
