One of the most common reasons a person wants coaching is to get help in manifesting their life the way they really want it to be. As coaches, it may be useful for us to examine the inner workings of the process of manifesting our intentions and even gain some mastery of these processes. It would help us walk our talk and be the living examples of manifesting our lives the way we really want them to be. So let's examine the five steps of the process of having our intentions become our reality.
Step 1. Clarify your Intention
A good way to begin this process is to create a gratitude list. In order to do this and to be sure that we are being clear in our intentions, it is essential that we write them down. So think about those things that you want to have, do, or be. Make your statements in the present tense and first person. Say them as if they already exist.
For example:
I am grateful that I am __________________
I am grateful that I (do) _________________
I am grateful that I have _________________
By reading and refining your statements each day, it will help you to clarify your intentions. Everything that you are experiencing in your life at this moment is a result of your thoughts. All that you are experiencing right now is the sum total of all your previous intentions. If you want to know what you have been intending, look at what you have!
So why isn't your life just the way you want it to be? This leads us to step two of the manifestation process.
Step 2. Make sure that your intentions are unencumbered by conditioned responses.
We grow up with certain conditioning that inadvertently causes us to self-sabotage our true desires by putting into motion "conflicting thoughts and feelings." Few of our mentors were skillful intenders. Our parents, teachers, friends and relatives all modeled ineffective ways of intending. Without realizing it we unconsciously develop the "programmed" habits of sabotaging ourselves. The science of physics tells us that everything-including physical objects, thoughts, feelings, and our intentions are made up of waves of energy. This energy propagates out into the environment like ripples in a pond.
Limiting beliefs, traumas, conditioning and habits are also patterns of energy. According to the principals of physics, these unwanted patterns of energy come into contact with the patterns of energy of our intentions and results in a weakened resonance. And when we don't fully resonate with our intention due to these "conflicts in consciousness," we end up not intending into existence the life we truly desire. Intention is everything-what you think is what you get.
The first major obstacle to keep our intentions from coming into existence is our fears. The energy of fear has a tendency to keep us in the grip of the emotion and does not allow us to show up and participate in the experience of the very thing we want to manifest in our lives. It is fear that stands in the way of us being totally who we are. It stands in the way of allowing our lives to unfold, participate, and enjoy in the most profound way. The principal way that fear gets in the way is a direct result of our conditioning.
Step 3. Begin to take action in the direction of your intention
One of the most important things that you can do is to begin to take action in the direction of your intention. You may have seen people prepare a project or activity for a long time and never actually create results. Have you ever had that experience of knowing what needs to be done and finding yourself reading your email instead? If you find that you are avoiding taking needed action, check to see if there is a fear present
Once you have cleared any barriers to taking action, then it is time to actually take the actions needed. Sometimes this has to do with commitment. Commitment is when you decide to totally align your whole being with really bringing your intention into existence.
I am reminded of a famous quote about commitment attributed to Goethe:
"That the moment one definitely commits oneself then Providence moves, too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamt would have come his way."
Step 4. Properly manage thoughts that are contrary to your Intention
Once your intentions are clear, and you are taking action in the direction of your intention, you may notice something subtle and insidious happening. You may notice negative and sabotaging thoughts or speech arising. We tend to not be fully conscious that we are doing this. Even if we are conscious that we are doing it, sometimes the habit seems so deep that we feel that we can't stop even though we are aware of it.
Neutrality is the most powerful dismantler of negativity. Start by simply becoming aware of all thoughts and feelings that are contrary to your intention. Second, master the ability to unplug from feeding those thoughts and feelings energy. Once you begin to notice the subtle occurrence of sabotaging thoughts or speech, pull the plug on the mind chatter. Simply notice and shift to neutral.
Step 5. Allow the Universe to organize the details
Allowing the Universe to organize the details of the fulfillment of your intentions is not a New Age fantasy. As we mentioned, the laws of physics include the law of reciprocity. That means that when you have a thought or take an action, there are going to be a myriad of results of those thoughts and actions. Everyone has had the experience of having an intention or desire and forgetting about it. Then later on, the desire gets fulfilled or the intention comes into being. This is the process of manifesting our intentions at its best.
The primary thing to be done is to not create an expectation of the way in which your intention is to be fulfilled. If you want a house by the ocean, don't pick a particular house; intend to have one like or better than the house you saw. Attachment to it being "your way" will tend to distract you from noticing the magical ways that the fulfillment of your intention is being brought about. So stay open to it happening in ways that you don't expect. In fact, it is ideal to give up the whole habit of creating expectations and getting attached to them. These are only stories in your head and they don't have anything to do with what actually is. Pay close attention to the feedback you are getting from the environment and adjust your course of action as you get that guidance from the environment. This doesn't mean not to have goals but it does mean not to be attached to the specifics of how the goal gets reached.
This also relates back to clarifying of your intentions because if you want a new car, you don't want to limit your options by stating that, "I have enough money to buy a new car." Instead, it is better to intend to have the new car and be open to other ways of getting it than by having the money. Someone could give it to you or you could win it in a contest.
Master all of the skills of manifestation and have the life of your dreams.
