Master the Skills of Manifestation—Seventh in a Series

Allow the Universe to Organize the Details

The Five Steps of Manifestation

  1. Clarify your intention.
  2. Make sure that it is unencumbered by conditioned responses.
  3. Begin to take action in the direction of your intention.
  4. Properly manage thoughts that are contrary to your intention.
  5. Allow the Universe to organize the details.

With this step, it is important to have a clear distinction between expectation and intention. These are based on the distinction between thinking and knowing, where expectation is the product of thinking that something should be a certain way, while intention is the product of knowing that something is—that it is just a matter of it unfolding in time. Most of us have a low level of distinction between thinking and knowing because of the core dynamic of ignoring your intuition and, underneath that, the first dynamic of resisting feelings fully.

We confuse expectation with intention because we are so caught up in not wanting to experience things that are going to put us into emotional overwhelm. We try to organize the future to steer clear of anything unpleasant, but may find ourselves avoiding the intention showing up altogether.

When we create expectations, we are creating stories in our mind of how we think things should be. Then we do everything to try to make things be that way. When we do this, we are actually living in the story rather than being fully present to the reality.

There are many dynamics involved in this one. Creating stories is the dynamic of manufacturing interpretations. If you are attached to how the universe is going to bring about the fulfillment of your intention, then you have the dynamic of trying to force the outcome. We are so attached to the way our individual ego thinks it should happen that we resist allowing the universe to organize it. We think we need to organize it. It's an illusion. You cannot do it. You cannot control the future.

In this habit or need for control, we are resisting change, too. We want it to be the way we want it to be. We attach to our perspective on how the intention should blossom. In order for us to be open for the perspective to change, we have to be so grounded in ourselves, in our essential nature, in pure awareness itself, that we can allow that change because we are not identified with the way we see it.

When we are overly identified with our perspective, or our expectation, then when it changes, our sense of who we are is threatened. This is the essence of the dynamic of excluding other perspectives. We don't want to change the way we see it, because we're so identified with the way we see things that if it changes, that is going to disrupt the sense of who we are, and that's threatening.

Sometimes, creating expectations involves a problem of trying to dictate to the universe too much specificity as to how the desire should be brought into realization. You have to have good, clear intentions that are very specific, like in your gratitude list. But, when it is time for the universe to actually organize the details, you want to leave room to be surprised. You want to leave room for perks that you didn't ask for. You want to leave room for it to show up in a way that is beyond what you could have imagined and utterly delightful. You want to leave room for the universe to work its magic. There are all kinds of ways that it could come. We don't want to get in the way of the universe being able to organize that in the most effortless, elegant, magical, surprising way.

We want to completely dismantle the illusion that expectation is useful. We've been heavily conditioned to create expectations, but it is a habit that you want to completely give up, because it has nothing to do with anything. It is living in stories that are not real. It's like living with a TV as your life. We want to come out of the habit of creating expectations, because expectations lead to disappointments, which leads to an on-going cycle of expectation and disappointment.

In mastering the skills of manifestation, we must align ourselves with intention and live from intention. So, when you find yourself creating expectations, or when you are not clear as to whether you're making an expectation or having an intention, unplug the power cord. If it is an intention, it will come back to you. It will return in a natural way. It will keep showing up more and more clearly. It is like the previews at the movies. As they shoot more of the film, they give you more of the preview. As you get closer, the view is going to get sharper. The description of it, the understanding of it, the preview of it is going to get clearer and it's going to evolve and change as you move toward it.

If you are living in expectations, however, unplugging the power cord will bring you to silence. It will bring you back to nothing, the nothingness that preceded the expectation. You simply stop feeding it energy. The energy that you've been wasting by putting it into the expectation will drop, but you'll drop back to the source of your energy - that neutrality where all the energy comes from.

If there is any underlying basis for creating the expectation in the first place, when you come back to the present, you will start to feel those very feelings that you are trying to avoid by creating a story and then living in the story about what's going to happen. When you shift back to neutral, you're going to get to experience whatever is there. When you unplug from expectation, typically if you just sit in the gap there for a little bit, you're going to notice there's some feeling that's driving you to create that expectation. When you notice that, try feeling into the core of the feeling. The more you practice the feeling into the core of the feeling exercise, the more you realize that you can feel anything. You can feel things that are so intense that once you wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. But now, you're cultivating the ability to do that. Now, it's appropriate to dismantle the mechanism of expectation because you don't have to mitigate the future, you can handle whatever comes up. Your task is to have a heightened awareness to notice when you're creating an expectation. The moment you find yourself creating the expectation, you reach over to the wall and you yank that cord out of the wall as fast as you can. Another analogy is to imagine you are driving in first gear and heading towards the illusion of your expectation. You grab the gearshift, shift it into neutral and let the car coast to a stop.

As you clear out the habit of expectation, you will be able to simply stand in the wonder of uncertainty and allow intentions to show up. You will be able to respond spontaneously to the needs of the moment with the fullness of your being.

The following statements may be useful to ferret out any patterns of energy that prevent you from identifying and neutralizing any thoughts that interfere with your intentions manifesting. If you have a WaveMaker you can debug yourself for any resonance you may have with any of these statements.

  1. I am identified with being the doer
  2. I am identified with being the receiver
  3. I am identified with my stories
  4. I have a tendency to try to force the outcome to meet my expectations

If you don't and you want to get debugged for this step of mastering the skills of manifestation, you can find a WaveMaker Coach near you by checking our directory of WaveMaker Coaches and Human Software Engineerings.

It is important to continue to move towards the fulfillment of your intention while staying open to the possibility that the way in which your intention gets fulfilled might be different than you originally thought it would be. To support this step of manifesting your intentions, here is a list of intention statements related to allowing the universe to organize the details.

  1. I allow action to flow through me powerfully without attempting to force a particular outcome.
  2. I am conscious of and highly skilled at having an intention, letting go and letting the Laws of Nature organize the details of bringing the intention into being.
  3. I have the perfect balance between taking powerful actions to fulfill my intention and allowing the universe (or God or Nature, as you prefer) to organize the details of how my intention is fulfilled.
  4. I clearly distinguish between obstacles to be overcome and attempting to force an outcome due to being attached to the specific way that my intention is to be fulfilled.
  5. I stay alert to and I am sensitive to the feedback from the environment.
  6. I adjust my course of action so that I am aligned with how the universe is supporting the fulfillment of my intention.
  7. I always clearly know what is appropriate for me to do, and what is appropriate for the universe to do, in order to bring about the fulfillment of my intentions.
  8. Even without being aware of it, I always spontaneously do my part and allow the universe to do its part in bringing about the manifestation of my intentions.
  9. There is something else related to allowing the universe to organize the details of how my intention is to be fulfilled that I need to identify.
If you find that you are getting stuck and not able to pull the plug on the negative thoughts, you can do one or more of the following:
  • Practice the GAP exercise on a regular basis to cultivate familiarity with Pure Awareness as well as to help identify any underlying conditioned responses that may be energizing negative thinking.
  • Have a WaveMaker Coaching session with a WaveMaker Coach using the intentions and debugging statements from this article. Most WaveMaker Coaches offer free or low cost demo sessions so that you can see how you like it. The directory is here.
  • Come to the Upgrade Your Life - Debugging the Core Dynamics of Common Problems seminar in San Diego or any of the other places where Tom Stone is teaching it in 2005. - info and schedules for this seminar is here.
  • You can also learn the Core Dynamics insights and techniques from the recording of one of my best live seminars taught in San Diego in March 2003. To order the CD set click here. This is another great way to learn how to properly manage thoughts that are contrary to your intentions so that they can manifest in your experience.

May you always enjoy the magic that happens when you unplug from expectation and allow the universe to manifest the fulfillment of your intentions,

Tom
