Master the Skills of Manifestation—Sixth in a Series

Properly manage thoughts that are contrary to your intention

by Tom Stone

Tom Stone

If we subscribe to the notion that we are creating our reality through our thoughts and behaviors, then the choices that we are making - meaning the thoughts and actions we are entertaining - molds that which we experience. Our current reality, therefore, is the sum of the choices of thought, speech, and action that we have been making in the past. So, any energizing of any kind of commentary on our current situation is going to perpetuate our current situation. It's going to give us more of the same. In other words, if you have a limited amount of money in your bank account and you say, "I'm broke," what do you get more of? You get more of being broke! If you want to have a romantic partner in your life and you say, "I'm alone," what do you think you get more of?

In some cultures in the world, there is a tradition of personification of the laws of nature. The laws of nature are considered to be gods. There is this idea that nature is alive, that the universe is permeated with subtle forms of cosmic intelligence, and that you can talk to these entities, whether you can see them or not, and that they actually respond to you. This personification is a very subjective and human way of describing the scientific, mechanical expression of the law of reciprocity, which we know from physics. This is the law that says any action produces an equal and opposite reaction.

When we have a thought, the influence of that thought goes out and bounces off everything. It bounces off walls. It bounces off mountains. It bounces off planets, off stars. Although certainly a subtle influence, eventually, it comes back. It might return almost instantly. It might take a long time. The influences of all of our past actions are coming back to us in every moment. So every action that we take, including thinking and speaking, has a myriad of reactions. The full influence of any action is so vast that it is far beyond the scope of our human intellect to grasp or know the full influence or total implications of a given action.

In other words, when human beings have a thought, the laws of nature respond. This is a basic principle, and it is mechanical. The laws of nature don't question the action or the actor, as if to say, "Are you really sure you want to take that action?" We take the action, the laws of nature respond. We throw a ball against a wall. It bounces back.

So with every thought, we stimulate the laws of nature into action. When we have the thought, "I'm alone," the laws of nature respond by beginning to organize that reality for us. It's kind of like the whole of nature responds, "She wants to be alone. Let's organize that." If we say, "I'm broke," Nature says, "He wants to be broke. Empty his account. Take away clients. Don't give him any money." It's as if the laws of nature are like entities we talk to. Whether we agree with this personalized concept, or prefer the more objectified one, there is a relationship between our thoughts, speech and actions and the mechanism of the laws of nature. That is a relationship we must cultivate if we are to manage our thoughts so they fully support our intentions.

When we have the habit of negative thinking or speaking, including this insidious one of commenting on what is, then we keep creating more of the same limited way of being.

Additionally, anything that is inferior in any way to our gratitude list should not be energized with thoughts. If our order in the restaurant it is not what we really want, we don't spend time thinking it over. We don't talk it through. We send it back. Making excuses for it only creates more negative mind fog and compromises our intentions. Whether it's the waiter or the laws of nature, let them know if it's not what you really want, they need to get it right!

There is another interesting aspect to this. People will sometimes ask me, "Aren't I lying when I say I have a new car if I actually don't?" If your notion of the truth is limited to that which you are experiencing with your senses, then that would be a lie. But if your notion of the truth is that which you are bringing into manifestation and you are willing to have it be true even though it hasn't come into your sensory perception yet, then of course that is not a lie. An example of this is seeing the previews at the movies. You watched the preview that means the movie is coming. Do you disbelieve that the movie is actually coming? If you have the thought of that new thing that means it's an impending reality unless you sabotage it by continuing to more strongly energize the perpetuation of the status quo. In this case, the movie will still come to town but you won't know it's at the theater and you'll miss it. Your intention will happen in creation, you just won't get to enjoy it and participate in it because you are too busy maintaining that status quo.

The best way to come out of this is to develop a very conscious practice of simply noticing what thoughts, speech, and actions you are energizing. Is it your gratitude list or is it a perpetuation of the past? Watch what it is that you allow your thoughts to be about. Watch what you are energizing. Watch what you are ordering from the cosmic restaurant. Every time you have a thought, it's like you are placing an order in the cosmic automated restaurant. If you are sloppy about this and unconscious, you might find yourself eating the same overcooked leftovers day after day. So pay very, very close attention to the instructions you're giving the cosmic order taker.

The most powerful dismantler of negativity is neutrality. The first step is simply to be aware of all thoughts and feelings that are contrary to your intention. Second, master the ability to unplug from those thoughts and feelings so you do not energize thoughts, speech or actions that are contrary to your intentions.

Once you begin to notice the often subtle occurrence of sabotaging thoughts or speech, practice using The Core Dynamic Personal Development Technique called Unplugging the Power Cord and Shifting to Neutral. Notice your language and notice your thought and unplug from it, shift into neutral. Pull the plug on the mind chatter. Simply notice and shift to neutral. Cultivate awareness so you can easily identify when to shift from the old habit of commenting on what you perceive to the wonder of allowing your intentions to be your reality. Be a conduit for you gratitude list to come into being.

Right in this area there is a wonderful application of WaveMaker Coaching. It is possible with the WaveMaker to "debug" the habit of being clueless and not noticing the habit of energizing thoughts that are contrary to your intentions. When this habit is debugged, it seems to create a significant gap of awareness between you and the habitual thinking of the negating thoughts. This makes it much easier to recognize them rather than simply energize them by default. This can be done of course without the debugging from the WaveMaker but this kind of debugging can make it significantly easier to see it and remember to unplug the power from the old pattern.

The following statements may be useful to ferret out any patterns of energy that prevent you from identifying and neutralizing any thoughts that do not support your intentions from manifesting. These can be used with the basic Human Software Engineering protocol in order to debug them.

  1. I am aware of any and all thoughts or feelings that might be contrary to my intention.
  2. My capacity to simply notice thoughts or feelings that are contrary to my intention and be completely neutral toward them is optimal.
  3. In some way I am still giving energy to thoughts or feelings that are in conflict with my intention.
  4. I fear having my intention be completely free of any sabotaging influence.
  5. There is something that is keeping me in conflict with my intention.
  6. I skillfully manage my thoughts and feelings in such a way that nothing whatsoever interferes with the fulfillment of my intention.
  7. There is something else related to managing my thoughts and feelings in such a way as to avoid sabotaging my intention that I need to identify.
Here is a list of intention statements related to properly managing your thoughts so they fully support your intention:
  1. I am aware of any and all thoughts or feelings that might be contrary to my intention.
  2. My capacity to simply notice thoughts or feelings that are contrary to my intention and be completely neutral toward them is optimal.
  3. I skillfully manage my thoughts and feelings in such a way that nothing whatsoever interferes with the fulfillment of my intention.
If you find that you are getting stuck and not able to pull the plug on the negative thoughts, you can do one or more of the following:
  • Practice the GAP exercise on a regular basis to cultivate familiarity with Pure Awareness as well as to help identify any underlying conditioned responses that may be energizing negative thinking.
  • Have a WaveMaker Coaching session with a WaveMaker Coach using the intentions and debugging statements from this article. Most WaveMaker Coaches offer free or low cost demo sessions so that you can see how you like it. The directory is here.
  • Come to the Upgrade Your Life - Debugging the Core Dynamics of Common Problems seminar in San Diego or any of the other places where Tom Stone is teaching it in 2005. - info and schedules for this seminar is here.
  • You can also learn the Core Dynamics insights and techniques from the recording of one of my best live seminars taught in San Diego in March 2003. To order the CD set click here. This is another great way to learn how to properly manage thoughts that are contrary to your intentions so that they can manifest in your experience.

May you master the skill of shifting to neutral so that you can have the life you really want!
