In the last article we got clear on the fact that our intentions are everything. In order to manifest anything in our lives, we have to be clear about what it is we want.
The first step in doing this is to clarify your intentions.
To begin this process create a gratitude list. In order to do this and to be sure that we are being clear in our intentions, it is essential that we write them down. So, to start, think about those things that you want to have, do, or be. Make your statements in the present tense and first person. Say them as if they already exist. Such as:
I am grateful that I am: ___________
I am grateful that I: ______________
I am grateful for having: __________
As you write them down, notice how you are stating it. As we go along you will find that your intentions will begin to evolve as you get more clarity. Once we have clarity, the Universe will handle the details. So, don't even think about the "how" of getting or having what you desire. Simply state it as if it is already so.
By doing this you are setting in motion resonance with the Universe, which is so powerful and so manifesting in and of itself! And, as your intentions evolve, you will move closer to fulfillment because the picture just gets clearer.
How To Get Out of the Way
Oftentimes we think we are intending just perfectly, but we are being too specific. This is a perfect example of limiting the ways in which the Universe can fulfill our desires. For example: Let's say you want to increase your client base and your intention is set forth as follows:
"I have 5 new clients within the next 2 weeks."
You may get those 5 new clients and it may take 2 weeks to get them. But you have in essence limited the possibility of getting those 5 new clients in 2 days! or 10 new clients in 2 weeks. So, be very careful in how your write your gratitude list. Another limitation to be aware of when creating a gratitude list is combining a couple of intentions into one statement. For example:
"I have a thriving coaching business and this makes me financially abundant."
If you separate out each individual intention as a stand-alone statement, you are letting in the possibility to feel financially abundant-independent from having a thriving coaching business, or the other way around. One may show up before the other. This way you do not make one dependant on the other. We don't always want to tie them together, because you may have a wealthy relative that dies and leaves you ten million dollars! This is not, typically, the kind of wealth you would derive from a coaching practice-although not impossible.
So, the next step is to go through your list and unbundle the ones that are tied together and make them separate statements. It doesn't matter how long your list is-it can be one page or a hundred pages-it will help you to get them more concise and clear though if you categorize them according to different parts of your life. Such as: finance, career, relationships, health. This way you will be able to easily restructure them so as not to restrict any of them from the timing or the source. It gives the Universe more latitude for your desire to show up when it's time.
Refining Your List
The next thing you will need to do is read the list to yourself each morning and each evening. By reading your list, you are making sure that you are plugged in to the source of energy and power so that the laws of nature can get on with the task of bringing your desires into existence.
So, take some time for yourself in the morning and just sit quietly, read your list, and then close your eyes and just sit and notice the silence-the silence of your own being. When you feel connected with your essential nature, open your eyes. Do this again each evening.
Every couple weeks or so, revisit your list and keep refining it. You'll get a sense of any inconsistencies between who you really are and anything on your list. This gives you a feeling-level filter to distinguish between what you think you want and what really is the expression of who you are.
Experience Your Essential Nature
Sometimes we can feel our minds getting in the way of our intentions. As I mentioned earlier, we don't want to put a limitation or restriction on our intentions. By keeping your intentions in the present and stating them as if they are already here, it opens the flood gates of opportunity for universal energy to manifest for you in the optimum time. The Universe will organize the details. Leave your mind out of it.
You can qualify what something means to you. For example: if you want to be a millionaire, ask yourself "what does it mean to be a millionaire?" Does it mean you have investments with a net worth of a million dollars? Does it mean you have a million dollars in cash in the bank? or in your pocket? What exactly does it mean to you to be a millionaire? If you can distinguish between wanting to earn a million dollars over the course of your life or if you specifically and more precisely want to be a millionaire now, you will need to qualify what that means to you.
In order to do this, you state it as if it already is, which will allow you to have a resonance with that intention to align yourself with the intention so that you can experience it coming into being.
Practice Makes Perfect
Continue to read your list-either out loud or silently-it doesn't matter. It's what feels appropriate to you, and whatever way feels right to you in the moment will be perfectly fine. Use your intuition.
By reading your statements over each day and refining them as you go along demands us, in a way, to get our act together with making our intentions clear. And it's highly personal because it's what you really want.
Adding to Your List and a Precaution
We're coming up with new intentions all the time. It's not a static thing and will continue to evolve. When things start to come up in your life and you feel comfortable and fine that they are there and they are going to perpetuate, you can drop them off your list. Just as you can add new intentions as your life ebbs and flows.
Always make sure that you are intending for yourself and that you do not impose intentions onto anyone else—your spouse, your children, etc. They may choose a different life than what you may think. For example: you may want to have grandchildren. You can set up an intention for having grandkids for you, but an intention that would state that your child has children would not be beneficial. You will need to feel into it and do your best. What ever the level of specificity that feels right to you will become clear as you read through your list each day. It's a delicate balance between being highly specific and also being generic enough that you can allow experiences to occur in aspects you may not have thought of. So, there's a value to specificity and there's a value to leaving aspects open for the Universe to bring you surprises like you could not imagine.
Those things that are being creating by God, the Universe, or the laws of nature (whatever way you look at it), is actually us—it's the Self (with a big "S"). What our universality is creating is already happening and it's just that our sequential experience has been designed (by us) so that we can savor it in chunks. We get to experience things under the illusion of linearity so that we can enjoy every single bit of it.
