The Origins of Human Software Engineering

The short story of how it all got started

Long before I knew about bioresonance devices I had developed a form of healing that used patterns of energy called Wave Form Optimizing. It was based on the same principles of wave interference that I had learned about while I was a music student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While I was studying classical guitar and composition at the Conservatory I took a very strong interest in the physics and mathematics of music, harmonics, intonation systems, etc. For some reason I just was fascinated with all of this. Little did I know that it would be the perfect background for understanding the basis of Vibrational Healing later in my life.

Then in my late 20’s I discovered Homeopathy and immersed myself in reading everything I could find on it. I became a “lay prescriber” so that I could find remedies for my family and friends. It was from my study of homeopathy that I started to really understand that the body and everything in it are made of energy. In the Fall of 1993 I learned muscle testing as part of learning one of the systems of muscle testing called Holographic Repatterning. With the muscle testing I now had a method of gaining access to the innate intelligence of the body. This was the beginning of my learning about bio-energetic testing techniques. 

Also in 1993 I had a dramatic personal experience of going to answer my door one evening only to be greeted by a man with a .44 caliber hand gun who shot me in the chest and turned and walked away. I miraculously lived through the assault and it truly was a miracle. In fact, I had two surgeries following the incident, one immediately and another three months later to remove the bullet that they couldn’t get out during the first one. A couple of days after the first surgery the assistant surgeon stopped by to see how I was doing. He said, “You know you are really quite lucky, don’t you?” “Lucky?!?” I said. “I just got shot, what do you mean by saying that I am lucky?” “We’ll,” he replied, “if you’re going to get shot in the chest with a .44, only about 1 in 100,000 people would live through it and only about 1 in a million would come out of it as unscathed as you did without loosing any organs or being crippled in some way.” In that context I guess he was right.

While I was recovering from the second surgery I got a bad cold. I had already learned Holographic Repatterning and I tried all of those techniques on myself but nothing seemed to help. At this point I now had all of the components for creating a healing system using the principles of wave interference that I had learned during my music studies. I had:

So with the motivation of wanting some relief from the very bad symptoms of the cold (along with the discomfort of surgery recovery) I had the idea that if I could identify the frequency and harmonic content of the waveform of the virus, then maybe I could muscle test how to use some of the “self-healing” modalities from the Holographic Repatterning menu of options to get my system “switched on” for creating the mirror image of the energy pattern of the virus and cancel out its energy.

I created the first simple version of what later came to be known as Wave Form Optimizing and did it on myself. To my delight and surprise after about half an hour I didn’t feel sick any more. There was still some clearing up of mucous but the feeling of being sick from the cold was gone. “Maybe I’m on to something.” I thought.

I refined and developed the system more and started to give seminars on Wave Form Optimizing. The students also found that they got some pretty remarkable results and also that they could get at things that they couldn’t seem to get results with using other methods.

In about 1995 a former nun came over from Scotland to take all of the Holographic Repatterning (HR) classes and especially to take the Wave Form Optimizing class with me which was at the time offered as an advanced elective class for people who had already taken the basic HR classes.  After the class she told me that she now realized that it was for the knowledge of Wave Form Optimizing that she had come over to the USA and taken all of this training. A few months later she sent me a letter with a photo copy of an article from the London Times about a device called the Bicom. The article was about how effective this device was for treating allergies. At the bottom of the article she has hand written a note that read – “See, I knew you were right. Here’s a machine that does the same thing!”

Well this certainly got my interest for two reasons. First because I had been thinking of creating a device that would pick up the frequencies from the body and filter out the ones that were needed and send them back to the body. It would be a Wave Form Optimizing device but I hadn’t figured out how to do it. Now here seemed to be the very thing that I had wanted to create and perhaps I didn’t have to create something from scratch after all as it was already created by someone else. How wonderful!

The second reason was that I had terrible hay fever and allergies which I had suffered from since my teens and I had tried everything I could find so far, including homeopathy, acupuncture, NAET, traditional allergy therapy, herbal remedies, etc and nothing had done more than put a short term dent in the symptoms. I had allergies so bad that sometimes, like in the ragweed season, the sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes would get so uncomfortable that I couldn’t do anything but stay in bed and feel miserable.

I checked on the internet which of course was very much in its infancy at that time and I couldn’t find anything about the Bicom (the article in the London Times didn’t say who made the device or where the manufacturer was located). But I did find a conference in Europe on biophysics with the email addresses of some of the biophysicists who were presenters at the conference. So I email them all asking them if anyone knew about the Bicom device and who made it and where the company might be. I got several replies from people saying that they were sorry but they didn’t know and then finally someone sent me the company name of Regumed and their address in Munich, Germany. They didn’t have a web site at the time or an email address so I sent a snail mail letter asking for their product literature.

A few weeks later I received a packet with information about the Bicom and some literature including a brochure with the summary of the allergy study that is summarized here. –

Then I called the company in Germany and managed to get someone who spoke English. “Where in Iowa (where I lived at the time) can I get this therapy?” I asked. There was some hemming and hawing on the other end of the line and the man said, “Well, we only have seven machines in the USA.” He then gave me the contact information of the people with Bicom devices in the US and the closest one was in St. Louis, MO which was about 4½ hours away by car. It turned out to be the office of a chiropractor named Dr. Bert Hanicke. Bert was a dean of Applied Kinesiology and a teacher at the Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis. He had been using bioresonance devices for about 15 years at that point (April, 1997) just quietly calling it a form of acupuncture. The Bicom device had an electro-acupuncture (EAV) testing unit built into it which he used to measure the energy status of the meridians by testing with the stylus of the device on the “control measuring points” on the sides of the fingers and toes. Fascinating! I took my family and we all had treatments from Dr. Hanicke.

My experience was dramatic. I had a tremendous reduction in allergy symptoms. I also completely changed my diet quite spontaneously and lost some unwanted pounds. After about 5 days the allergy symptoms returned by at a lower level. I had read that it might take several treatments to get a complete elimination of the reactions so I was not discouraged. I couldn’t get back to see Dr. Hanicke until August but I did go back then and had additional treatments. I knew that the Fall allergy season was coming and I wanted to get additional help before the ragweed season hit.

My experience was again dramatic but this time in a different way. On both of the two days that I had sessions with Dr. Hanicke during this visit to his practice in St. Louis he ran a program on the Bicom for energizing my liver in additional to balancing the “allergy meridian.” When I went home I found that my skin started to itch all over, and I mean ALL over. I called Dr. Hanicke and said, “Gee doc, I think I must be detoxifying through my skin or something, I’m itching all over.” “Yes,” he replied, “Your liver is filtering the blood so thoroughly that your kidneys can’t keep up with it so the toxins are coming out through your skin.” “That makes sense to me.” I said, “but what can I do about it to be more comfortable?” He told me to get a bath brush and brush my skin vigorously when I showered and to drink a lot of purified water and it would clear up within a few days. I followed his instructions and indeed it did clear up just as he said it would. I learned from this experience the importance of opening the organs of elimination prior to pushing the toxins out of the body!

He had also balanced the allergy meridian again and what I noticed throughout the Fall was that my friends were suffering from allergies, sneezing and blowing their noses, etc. and I had hardly any symptoms at all. By October of that year I had my first Bicom device and then in December I went to Germany and negotiated the distribution rights for the Bicom for the USA, Canada and Mexico. I also started to go over to Germany for training as I needed to learn everything I could about how to use bioresonance devices because I had to train people over in our hemisphere how to use the technology. During my many trips to Germany and Austria for training seminars I met many wonderful people including fellow students and presenters as well as the teachers and bioresonance therapists who were at these seminars. Along the way I received several additional debuggings for allergies from some of my new colleagues.

At the training on allergy therapy in Austria in January of 1998 we were told that you should not debug more than one of the “central” food allergens like wheat or dairy closer than two weeks apart. When I got home from the training I thought, “Oh, it will be alright! I can handle it.” Well, I seem to have learned most of what I know about bioresonance through direct experiences. I debugged wheat and dairy about two or three days apart. I have to say I had the strangest and one of the most unpleasant reactions I’ve ever had. It was a kind of acrid strange mucousy sore throat type of reaction that must have lasted for about 6 weeks. Something was really happening, that’s for sure. However, after that I noticed that I just didn’t seem to be allergic to anything any more. My allergies were gone!

I then began to debug others for allergies and found that like Dr. Schumacher’s study a very high percentage of them seemed to get better. The technology had gone through some upgrades over the years and so the results were perhaps even better than when Schumacher had done his study. This is also what we now experience with the WaveMaker and WaveMaker Pro. The results of allergy debugging are typically very good requiring fewer sessions to eliminate the allergic reaction to a given allergen. Debugging allergies a great addition to a WaveMaker coaching practice because it is easy to learn and to do and there is such a huge need for it.

I continued to go back to Germany and take seminars, visit the practices of leading practitioners and forge friendships with the practitioners and researchers who were exploring the possibilities of what this new type of approach to healing can do. Because I had already gone deeply into the creation of healing systems based on wave interference I could see some ways in which the Bicom was lacking certain features that I really wanted to have in a bioresonance device. I attempted to get the Bicom manufacturer to make some changes but they didn’t seem very interested in my ideas. After importing the Bicom for several years, I realized that I really wanted something with greater capabilities so in talking with Martin Keymer at one of the conferences in Germany he introduced me to Peter Barski and Wolfgang Bialas of the Holimed Company. Interestingly enough, I originally talked with Peter and Wolfgang about making devices for me to help with debugging people for smoking! And now here we are five years later launching the Be Smoke Free Now Program. Shortly after meeting Peter and Wolfgang I met Lynda and started dating her. You might say this was a distraction but after we decided to move in together and also to start Inner Human Design together she turned out to be not only the woman of my dreams but far from a distraction, she was the best business partner I could have found. So we started the company together and within less than a year we had worked with Peter and Wolfgang to design and make the WaveMaker Pro (originally called the HCNI – Human Computer Network Interface). As the HCNI was going into production I began to create the HSE seminars incorporating all of the best from the training I’d received in Germany in bioresonance with the pioneering work in debugging early childhood conditioning that later became the Core Dynamics of Common Problems.

In 2002 I met Thomas Leonard and he asked me to be his coach and also to co-develop and co-present some new seminars for Coachville. Thomas died before we could teach together but not before telling the coaching community about his work with me and how impressed he was with it. This launched me and the WaveMaker into instant fame within the coaching world and hundreds of coaches started to learn WaveMaker Coaching.

Lynda’s business in teaching Human Design was growing more and more and so in 2006 we decided to keep her business activity in Inner Human Design, Inc. and separate off the Human Software Engineering part of the business by placing it into a new company - Great Life Technologies, LLC. (GLT)

Back when I had started working with muscle testing in about 1994 I began to have the idea that the concept of changing patterns of energy and information in the body was very much like the idea of changing patterns of energy and information in computers. Early on, I had the idea to call this kind of work Human Software Engineering. My feeling was that using a computer analogy language for describing this work made a lot of sense for several reasons.

First of all the similarities were just too striking to ignore. With computers when something isn’t working with the software you have to debug, or upgrade or reinstall the software in order to get the output that you want. It’s the same for human life. Our inner human software is made up of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, attitudes, habits, conditioned responses, intuitions, intentions, premonitions, memories, etc. After all, computers were created to automate certain human tasks so they are very much like extensions of our own capacities. As such they seem to have similar kinds of problems to humans so the analogy has a real basis.

Also, these days everyone is familiar with computers and the language for talking about computers like having a computer virus infecting your files or upgrading your software. Using a language that people can relate to is important because when you want people to understand what you are talking about you have to use language that they hear and comprehend. Debugging and Upgrading your inner human software is something just about everyone can relate to. HSE of course also includes the Core Dynamics of Common Problems, the Five Pure Awareness Techniques and of course the WaveMaker and WaveMaker Pro and soon to be in production the mini WaveMaker that we are calling the WavePod.

Debugging allergies is of course only one small part of what can be done with Human Software Engineering. You can debug the conditioning and the habits at the basis of just about every kind of problem in your life.
